Diet For TB Patient

People who are malnourished or underweight are more likely to catch tuberculosis. So to fight TB,  your diet should be nutritious.

A healthy balanced diet can help prevent malnutrition . A diet for tuberculosis patient should not include foods that are tough to digest , as they can cause acidity.

The main thing in the diet for a TB patient is the calcium . And milk is the richest food source for the supply of calcium to the body.

Orange juice and the juices of pineapple, tomato, carrot are rich in vitamins and minerals that help the body to fight against tuberculosis bacillus . Strawberries are rich in potassium , vitamins and minerals that help  boost the immune system.

 

In vegetables bittergourd , spinach, broccoli, drumsticks ,green leafy vegetables are good to eat.

 

Plenty of whole grains like wheat pastas, breads and cereals are very beneficial.

 

Foods to be avoided in TB are:

Do not drink alcohol

Limit the tea ,coffee etc

Avoid junk food

Limit the intake of sugar

Avoid fats

Important points:-

The patient should take fully rest

Do not take any stress

Fresh air is also important

The sun rays of morning are essential as the tuberculosis bacilli are rapidly killed by exposure of sun rays
